Construction happening...

Assembly style with all the doors removed and drawers out.
This house is all about budget, functionality and trying to have style!
Style last...I am so insecure about choices and in the whole big picture really do not care except to HAVE a kitchen! Summer actually looked up kitchen styles and picked "a cream cabinet' something without wood as the whole house is log.
We opted to buy the unfinished cabinets and paint them 'distressed' style...

Hope it comes together and looks ok!

We picked a slate style tile and this is all do it yourself...
Jack did chalk lines and I spent a day tiling.
Grouting is so much fun smearing all that mud around!

Jack grouting.

Painted cabinets 1 coat primer 2 coat enamel (fine sanding between each coat)
Then add the distress with the sander

I use a wax to coat and buff out for the final finish.

Jack and Lars do all the sheetrocking. His brother Mark was up a couple times to do the taping.
Now Jack applies a texture coat with the taping mud(this saves time on sanding and leaving all that dust everywhere...Then we can get to painting much quicker!

Rudy is here again! He is retired and spending one more month in minnesota before heading back to Arizona for the winter. He parks his RV here and loves to be of help and build for us?!? He also has great ideas!
here he is framing out windows

This is in the entryway(the yellow coat of paint is an extra bucket of primer we had on hand from stucco jobs..it is only primer not my colors!)

Here is one color Summer chose. She actually chose all the paint colors as I did not want that decision..I am not sure about this color but whatever, you can always repaint right?

Rudy now deciding we need our front decking done. He is doing a rough cut 6 ft out. He moves fast!

It is fun to arrive each day and see what he has done!

In the meantime Jack stopping at his 'real' job... This one is a stone fireplace done for Mel and Candy Gulsvig. Jack really enjoys this kind of work and you can be so creative!

finishing touches on the grout!
